Please Note: My personal journal is now fully independent of my main personal Web site, but I am still working on some things such as my new page designs and many improvements to PageDrive, my software that runs my journal site. Having wanted to get back to hiking for some time now, I went hiking yesterday at Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. For company, I had the interesting people, animals, and plants I encountered along the trails, but no hiking partner. I just needed to get out and start hiking again regardless of whether I had anyone to hike with me and I am glad I did. The physical exertion felt good in one way and the sights and smells of the preserve felt good in two: not just in the sensory pleasure they provided, but also in how they made me feel closer to nature.
Today, I joined my new friend for a hike at Castle Rock State Park. We hiked along beautiful trails, climbed interesting and fun rock formations, and sometimes even just lounged about enjoying the beautiful environment and each other's company. It was without a doubt one of the best hikes I have ever had.
That makes two hikes in two days and I am tempted to venture out tomorrow for a third, but my studies will likely keep me from that. Even so, I suspect I will hike again very soon.
