Please Note: My personal journal is now fully independent of my main personal Web site, but I am still working on some things such as my new page designs and many improvements to PageDrive, my software that runs my journal site. If you encounter any technical problems, please either just try again a while later or let me know.
If an incoming telephone call begins with a recording that says "All our representatives are busy" then my time is already being wasted and I am not inclined to stay on the line, spending more of my time to wait for an unknown caller to discuss an unknown topic that is almost certainly a sales pitch for a product or service in which I am not interested (and would not buy via an incoming call either way); a hasty, sensationalized, and minimally informative political pitch from a clumsily recited script; or begging for donations for people in considerably better financial situations than my own.
The inclusion of my telephone number in the National Do Not Call Registry does not prevent such people from calling me, which is certainly annoying, but the most annoying part of it all is that the people running and working in these operations do not even have the decency to have a person call me directly. If they think their time is too valuable to wait for a call to be connected when they know the purpose of their call, but mine is not too valuable to wait for them when I do not know the purpose of their call, they are not only annoying and wasteful of time, but arrogant as well.
