Today is Alexander's second birthday, but as my fatherhood and his very existence were revealed to me only recently (56 days ago and 72 days ago, respectively), this is my son's first birthday knowing his father and likewise the first of his birthdays upon which I have known him. This day may not seem particularly remarkable to a two-year-old—especially compared to the forthcoming day of his birthday party—but I have been thinking about him all day.
