Please Note: My personal journal is now fully independent of my main personal Web site, but I am still working on some things such as my new page designs and many improvements to PageDrive, my software that runs my journal site. If you encounter any technical problems, please either just try again a while later or let me know.

Server Time

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 — 12:09am (PST)

The time reported by the Web server that hosts this journal is about twenty minutes behind the actual time. I knew that the server time was a bit off, but I did not realize that it was so far off until after I posted my previous entry. I started writing it just before midnight then I posted it two minutes or so after midnight, but the server says I posted that entry at 11:42pm. I am not sure how long the server time has been so inaccurate, but the fact that the time reported for even one entry is known to be so far off casts doubt on the times reported for all entries made on this server.

I wonder if this issue could be related to the very strange fact that Dreamweaver sometimes reports that files have been changed on the server since they were most recently uploaded only for comparisons to reveal that the files are in fact identical. I suspect that problems with Dreamweaver's local metadata could also be to blame.

I have submitted a trouble ticket to Reseller Zoom, the Internet hosting company that runs the server. Hopefully they will reset its system clock soon.
